How to use
How to use

Preparation of Substrate

  • Suitable for use with; brick, stone, and concrete surfaces. It is recommended that sources of water and damp are removed. A damp proof course should be employed
  • All contact surfaces must be clean and sound, and free from dust, grease particles and loose material or previous coatings. The surface must be prepared using abrasive tools, jet washing or wire brushing and any debris removed with clean water. Surface defects, such as holes, cracks or fractures should be filled with repairing mortar. Same can be over coated with TANKING SLURRY as soon as it is cool and dry to the touch
  • Under normal applications no priming is required. For difficult surfaces, Trubuild WPL may be applied as a primer coat. Seal around all services and pipes with Resipro High Strength Hybrid Sealant

Preparation of Slurry

  • 6.5 to 7.0 Liters of water is required for 20 kg Tanking slurry. This ratio can be changed slightly to adjust the required consistency
  • Pour the quantity of water into suitable mixing bucket / container. Slowly add the powder to water whilst continuously mixing with a mechanical paddle/stirrer
  • Mixing should be continued until all the powder is homogenously combined into a “creamy” consistency. Do not mix more product than can be applied in a 60 minute period

Coating

  • Apply the first coat to a thickness of 2mm in a vertical direction, working the slurry into any pinholes, crevices or edges thoroughly with a brush. Rollers can be used over larger sections but the surface should be inspected for any gaps or breaks in coating
  • The slurry needs to be a continuous film for it to be effective, this is especially important at the floor/wall junction. Inspect the coating after approximately 3 hours for breaks or gaps. If the film is consistent, touch dry and fully adhered, apply a second coat horizontally as this will ensure complete coverage of the substrate

Limitations and Precautions

  • Do not apply over plaster, wallpaper or paint as the dampness will be retained under the Trubuild Tanking Slurry and cause the plaster, wallpaper or paint to fail taking all subsequent coatings along with it
  • Not suitable for wood, plastic or fabric
  • Not suitable for Gypsum based plasters
  • Good ventilation is essential for correct drying and curing of product
  • It is recommended that Trubuild Tanking slurry is not over coated until after 5 days
